What’s in Store for Starcraft 2?

Blizzard Entertainment is finally on the works for Starcraft 2, a military science fiction game that combines a strategy of breathtaking action and indispensable adventure that would leave you breathless and wanting for more. Much more exciting and enticing than the previous Starcraft, which was first released ten years ago, Starcraft 2 is now being developed for release on Windows Vista, Windows XP and Mac OS X on a future date.

The announcement of the development of Starcraft 2 happened on May 19, 2007 in Seoul, South Korea and there is still no target date when it will be released but the multiplayer demonstration can now be played at BlizzCon 2007.

According to its creators, Starcraft 2 is intended to be the ultimate game for strategy players and it picks up where it left off on the previous Starcraft.
There are various changes when it comes to Starcraft 2, as compared to the original one.
For one thing, Starcraft 2 features three new most powerful races – the Terran, Zerg and Protoss. The creators claim that these three are the only races that you can play in the game. For another, Starcraft 2 feeds on the multiplayer aspect of the game, which means that you or your friend can play the game at the same time as opposed to the previous Starcraft. Another new and endearing feature of Starcraft 2 is the presence of the Battle.net, which would rank a player to another player who has similar skills and abilities. This is a ranked-in system that would match player to player. So if you are a newbie in this game, you would be matched with a newbie; an expert to an expert.

Furthermore, the review button of the game (which lets you or a friend review and replay your game) is now being improved and the creators are also taking into consideration the feedback that players have shared for the improvement and development of Starcraft 2. Some of these feedback and comments have already changed some features in the game.
Starcraft 2’s cut-in scenes is now being developed more to improve the cinematic quality of the game and to let players feel like they are part of the game – that they are not too distant when playing the game.

The units that are the Protoss and Terran and some units of the Zerg can already be seen in the official website of Starcraft 2, as well as some video demonstrations that are held by the creators of the game. These units are also being improved by Blizzard Entertainment, which has additional sceneries and improved space terrains. Set to be improved upon also are the advertisement signs, extensions and small precipices.

Starcraft 2 has also single handedly changed the single player aspect of the game. The campaign of the Terran has replaced the briefing room of the original Starcraft, and that the mercenary Jim Raynor has taken different kinds of jobs that would let him buy units and upgrade. This has made the campaign non-linear.
